August 14th 3727.
We have just dropped finished our last jump of this three week period of drifting, jumping, and more drifting through deep space. The Task Force has arrived in what the LFS refers to as IS-760. IS-760 is self proclaimed by it's occupants as the "Aquitaine" system. Currently we are in orbit around the systems sun and so far we haven't been detected.
We were sent to assist the contingency force that was over run by unidentified hostels in the area. The LFS command fears that IS-760, being located so close to areas that are heavy in Itena activity, is becoming involved in or actively supporting the Itena growth into the LFS/Arcadian Buffer zone and throughout the Fatamans. With a LFS contingency force being over run, the fears are eminent that there is fully fledged Itena military forces landed on Aquitania. Although their was little evidence supporting this, LFS high command doubts that this is any kind of aggressive action by the Arcadians or any Rouge state/ Family house that there of.
This Task force has been instructed to not engage any Arcadian forces if they are their, we are to find out what exactly happened and come to an agreement with them, but the LFS high command was very clear in it's decision that IS-760 was not worth engaging the damn Arcadians in battle, it is after all, just an IS.
August 22nd 3727.
All preliminary operations have taken place. Aquitaine is a fairly large system composed of five planets, two of which are gas giants that apparently according to archives have some orbital gas usage/product refinement facilities. The System is heavy in meteor activity between it's two gas giants and strange orbital paths form between them by debris and other system anomalies, but many of these anomalies are being swallowed up by the giants. The large transstellar ships have set up solar orbit and have began fuel manufacturing operations so that our own ships can quickly move out to investigate and assess the situation. We have a total of Three Orbital Operation Vessels. Each OOV can carry four C-32H "Mountains" around the outer hall and about eleven A/C-60 "Bridges" internally, or 24 A/C-57D Hoplites. Still, three OOV's isn't too tremendous of a force at all. Their are two ships we classify as OOV, the standard OOV and then the OCV or Orbital Cargo Vessel. It is basically a cargo version of the OOV, for hauling what ever the LFS wants, people, planetary equipment, munitions, anything. Both the OOV and OCV can harbor active RHV units for protection against other ships or Starfighters.
One OOV is being sent to the orbital faculty around "Yuless" the closer of the two Gas giants. Another will be going to "Fasat" a destitute planet of the system that is being terra formed and still coming along, currently, their isn't anything their to fight over. And finally the third is going to Aquitaine, although it's name suggest it, it isn't a very moist planet. it is fairly dry and cannot support very much life, but it is rich in mineral deposits, as with Fasat. Either Way, their isn't much to fight over in this whole system, unless there is some type of hostile take over occurring.
September 3rd 3727.
My group was assigned to investigate the installations at Yuless, we arrived after 54 hours of drift time and two jumps, then after messing up on our orbital trajectory and miscalculating for the gravitation distortion of Kuless, the other gas giant, we over shot and had to "jump back". it was a little dangerous because it decrease our velocity to low levels, but were able to recover then set an stationary orbit around the gas giant. Then the C-32s were released to cope with the heavy gravitational forces of Yuless. One C-32 is patrolling around the area searching with it's RHV units and the other three have met up with the large processing plants to search. Although upon arrival within communication distance they were glad to find that LFS forces are here, the people living and taking care of the facilities were low on supplies and were concerned that the past two months no cargo vessels had come by. This was ground for concern, and our sub task force relayed the message to the one in orbit around Fasat. Their findings were even stranger, they revealed evidence of massive unnatural creators which cause is currently undetermined. We have also notice large amounts of sediment in Fasat's thin atmosphere that didn't match climatic dust storm pattens on record, the patterns were different enough for noting. These Creators were massive, and all being strangely almost perfectly symmetrical. Not seeing any immediate threat, two of the Mountains landed at Fastat City's main ore hauling ship docks and unloaded some forces on the surface. Here's the scary part, Their was no one there on the entire planet, absolutely no one here in Fastat City or any of the other small settlements on the planet. Their Force had three Bridges and was able to land out near the surface anomalies, abnormal radiation was detected, but they said they needed better equipment in order to analyze the information further before any conclusions could be made.

After determining that their was nothing awry around Yuless, our Task Force was ordered to supplement the investigation of the surface anomalies on Fasat. I personally was able to look over one of these things, one of which extended beyond the horizon. It was one of the crazier things I’ve seen in my life.
It is uncomfortable on Fasat, the air is thin and cold, some of our men passed out while collecting samples. They insisted on not using any supplementary oxygen. I didn't mind getting to stand on solid ground, even if it was a semi-hazardous atmosphere we were all working in. Oh well, the LFS pays us pretty good.

But this isn't a total mystery, there are signs of fire fights evolving military grade weapons, and signatures signs of light RHV / RHS usage. Our analysts and computers can't put a finger on who might have caused this damage, but from what Intel we have gathered these damage signatures match that of weapons used throughout the known space particularly by rouge fleets and many ISs that manage to have their own military forces. Cheap weapons in other words. Nearly all damage caused was caused by energy based weapons.

We were all told that Fasat was geological stable, but a massive earthquake struck at one of sites and broke the landing gear assemblies on an A/C-60. the damage is extensive and a few people were hurt. I was assigned to help the team who was looking over the incident, naturally a military excursion force has no geologist. I imagine that is has to do with this creator...a lot. the quake destroyed some of the equipment we had set down in the creator, that was pain in the ass, we were forced to wait five hours for after shocks...and then when we did a dust storm blew up. Apparently we lost what ever weather monitoring equipment we had too...and the damn OOV is in stationary orbit on the other side of the planet and hasn't released any relay satellites, Task force 1 has them all over Aquitaine....
More importantly...two people have been found out in the wilderness of an area known as the "Merkerva Bad Lands" although they weren’t able to reveal much. The couple were flying in a small commercial craft, when something hit their plane. Technical Forensics officers were able to tell that it was from a short burst from a high powered long distance laser weapon, the reason why they didn't see anything and the expectable damage pattern observed on the vehicle. But fortunately for these people the attack wasn't very accurate and only did damage to the wing and superstructure. They were also over the equator so the nights didn't get too cold. They were out in the wilderness for about two months and were malnourished and in pretty poor shape, despite having made a small shanty out of the planes wreckage and in truth their had been another person with them but they died when the plane crashed. That time line coincided with the people at the processing plants over Yuless this was further grounds for concern.
Either way, this indicated that their was some sort of well supported military force that has ships that could use such long range laser weapons. This was troubling to the higher ups, combined with the odd creators and all the missing people it was troubling indeed.

We've collected all data on Fasat and are moving out to Aquitania. We finished scanning the creators and have began over viewing the information with more scrutiny. Our scouts found a few more small crashed aircraft around the area, but none of the crashes had survivors and most of the aircraft were automated general purpose drones that served as supplementaries to the lack luster satellite network the people of Fasat had setup. The two rescued people are very lucky, although I haven't seen them i heard they took them up to the OOV and to administer medical attention to them.
The landing gear was fixed but the crews need a zero g environment to fix it completely. Today i'm getting off this dead rock...but still it was nice to see a sky again but I can expect it to be warmer on Aquitania, but still not very inviting overall. I was told that there are birds there, I’ll have to check what stock animals were brought by the original colonists.
I was told that Gen. Vanshaw had began communications with LFS high command from the Trans-stellar in solar orbit with what information we've compiled so far. "This is an odd situation and we need further orders", is what he said. I agree with him.

All our forces have now arrived here at Aquitania. We are currently planning and going through procedural operations. So far the only thing that the first task force has done on Aquitania was examen it's surface anomalies and search much of the planets surface. Aquitania has three urban areas, one on each of the planets apparent major landmasses. The small Pseudo Oceans on Aquitania are extremely salty and have genetically altered schools of fish in them. Operations in some areas is difficult because of wind and storms. The planet has steadily been becoming hotter the past few 100 years through the efforts of the terra formers. The ice caps are in a long process of melting. The extra moisture in the air sparks large storm fronts that have proved a hindrance for operations. Currently thier is a window open near the largest city, named Sysenth, that is also the farthest north and near those ice caps.
Flooding has been observed at the city, apparently who ever attacked the system decided blow the large dam system set up for power and Fuel generation. The original colonists miscalculated the areas where the water would raise the most, and mistakenly started their first establishment closer to the poles and the large body of water that was already there for easy access to the water.

The operation went according to plan, but since then two large storms have blown up and have prevented the ships from taking off and pick up our forces around the planet. The last flybys of the city indicated moderate flooding, since then the waters have risen some five meters, and we need to deviate from many of our first scouting paths through the city. So far we've just been positioning ourselves, and scouting around with the RHVs. It's all the same as the other cities, but the reason we have such a large group to check through the flooded areas because the RHVs we have aren't very well suited for submerged or even amphibious operations that this operation calls for. And we only have very little diving equipment available.
It is nice and warm out today though and the slow operations are a nice change of pace, however displeasing this has been to the higher ups. At this pace, it'll be the middle of November before we examen the whole city.

The water has risen another 40cm since the 20th. It has rained everyday for at least seven hours at a time. Command believes it was from the high sedimentary levels in the atmosphere from what ever caused the surface anomalies.
The Trans-stellar vessels have apparently received word back from LFS high command is sending research and science vessels to assess the surface anomalies.
I guess this is what one of my superiors was talking about that one day in sensor school. He was talking about how the LFS, war ship sensors and computer abilities are great for military requirements, but if need be they are like neanderthals when it comes to analyzing any type of statistical information that isn't related to military operation. In other words, the data we've been collecting is like a foreign language to our computers. But none of that is stopping the animate life forms from making guess based on conjecture. For instance, I heard one of the infantry men who was resting the other day mention to his friend.
"what if...they were caused by a weapon.."
"What? No way...it was just a damn meteor or comet or some damn thing...maybe they ran a Transstellar into her"
"No seriously, what if some Arcadian SOB decided to test a new weapon they developed...on these people."
"Well, then we're in trouble..."
This though had never crossed my mind...the sheer size of the creators makes the idea "questionable". I fear now it may be some sort of weapon.

One of our teams towards the eastern outskirts of the city stumbled on something interesting today. A light RHV, a type that is commonly used by factions in the Fatamans, though not really by Itena. Popular because it is a cheap and modular design. After about an hour or so of winching and tugging it along we got it's wreckage out of the water. It had only taken one or two critical hits and then apparently the pilot ejected because the crew compartment was missing. Reguardless, it was mostly intact.
After our annalists went over it, they determined that it could very well have belonged to Itena, although their were no formal markings. Gen Vanshaw and the rest of command was up in arms. It was disappointing to see that we would definitely have to communicate with Itena and possibly some of the Arcadian factions.
On another note, the RHV we recovered was also hit by a powerful laser weapon, but only fired in a short burst. If their was one of these RHVs there is bound to be more.
November 3rd, 3727.
The research vessels arrived today. Thier are three of them. Two of which are simply specially modified OOVs that the LFS uses regularly. I've served duty on the class of ship before, investigating a new planetary system a few years back, in part of the Outer Rim territories. The LFS has about 60 of them.
But the third is impressive. It is a commercial research vessel, that was not a LFS project but a project of Neuveron system, although the LFS military partially funded the project, or from what i understand, and was able to apprehend the vessel for this mission. It apparently was in dock anyway. This ship, The Hudson, is equipped with a long range communications device that uses it own primary jump drive system to send long range communications, almost in real time at some distances. The ships dropped off a communications hub in deep space, this improved communications with LFS high command.
As for our continuing search through the flood waters of Sysenth, we recovered another destroyed RHV today, this one was less in-tact, it had taken much more damage. But our analysis are still looking it over. The pilot didn't eject, and was killed when the cockpit was hit from behind, the pilot's body was decayed moderately but remained because the harness and safety belts were still restraining it. The pilots flight suit had no identification other than a set of tags sporting some encrypted data that is extremely heavily coded, and is so far eluding what ever methods the Hudsons computers are attempting. We received extensive mission orders along with the science vessels, an article called for contact with the Shalon system if we suspect Itena activity. Shalon is very close to Itena areas and has good relations with both the LFS and Itena. High command is hoping that Shalon would be able to serve as a mediator, Itena has proved less than cooperative in the past.
For the Arcadians, we are to contact one of the sanction houses closest to here. Relations with Arcadia have been sterile for the past two years, the last confrontations being a border skirmish...that unfortunately was a result of the LFS's mistakes. It has made us look bad to the inter-spacial community. This whole situation may prove to shead bad light on the Arcadians, how ever frivolous it is....the whole area is divided up into idiotic warring factions of "Family houses". Let alone the Sanction Armies and Mercenary Groups. It'd be difficult to pin the blame on any one of them...because they have an annoying habit of putting their differences aside as far as the LFS, Fatiman, or Itena territories are concerned. Dammit, I’m beginning to whish we'd never have come here.

This isn't part of the story, but i believe that it will give a great deal of insight into the universe. Granted, it's not a picture..
Their are certain fundamentals that should be recognized to compare the three super powers to see why they are diffrent.
LFS (Leauge of Federated Systems) - Bases their government on a system of an integrated and coorperative free interprise with highly involved government interaction / restriction. Human rights are not to be violated, though specific laws are system or region dependent, all subsystems must fallow the guidlines set by LFS Federal government. Entire Planets, systems, Nebula, or stars cannot be owned. Colonization projects are generally always shared, though the LFS is not socialist. Would a coorperation (one of many) interceede with the actions of another or private business they can be activly removed from existance by the government. Internal conflict is not tolerated...though cooperate "wars" do take place they are just very discrete about them. It is a common misconception to people who do not live in the LFS that it's impossible to have a personal business and everyone works for the heart less coorperations. It has to do with coorperate dominance in interspacial commerse.
The LFS was formed when most of the UECS, (United Earthen Centralized Systems) fell to Arcadian forces in 2640. The LFS was after a combined effort of most of the remaigning UECS forces succeeded in a massive counteroffenive against the Arcadians, reclaiming some systems and forcing the Arcadians to stop their progression. Since at that time, many systems had been taken in a matter of a few months many of the planets and or orbital facalties remained highly unfortified, and the Arcadian's made the simple mistake of spreading their defense thin. The UECS forces were not going to make the same mistake and they were capaible of repelling Arcadian readvancement attempts for another two years, across a front of 20 some planetary systems. The arcadian's stopped, and the origional "buffer zone" was formed, and still exists today. It was a long time of tension.

Major sources of conflicts within the empire are the outward expansion away from the Fatiman and LFS areas. They do not coorperate with each other many of the times and cannot decided if they should act in a capitological way or behave more like the LFS. Communication outside of emperial areas is kept to a minimum. Their are still many groups that wish to invade the already highly developed neighboring systems but are kept underwraps by the CPA, knowing that a conflict with Fatiman houses or LFS supported Independent Systems is not a desireable occurance. The realationship between the various republics is comparitive to old friends that no longer have anything in common.
Their are certain fundamentals that should be recognized to compare the three super powers to see why they are diffrent.
LFS (Leauge of Federated Systems) - Bases their government on a system of an integrated and coorperative free interprise with highly involved government interaction / restriction. Human rights are not to be violated, though specific laws are system or region dependent, all subsystems must fallow the guidlines set by LFS Federal government. Entire Planets, systems, Nebula, or stars cannot be owned. Colonization projects are generally always shared, though the LFS is not socialist. Would a coorperation (one of many) interceede with the actions of another or private business they can be activly removed from existance by the government. Internal conflict is not tolerated...though cooperate "wars" do take place they are just very discrete about them. It is a common misconception to people who do not live in the LFS that it's impossible to have a personal business and everyone works for the heart less coorperations. It has to do with coorperate dominance in interspacial commerse.

We've finally made it though the entire city. After the science vessels arrived, we were able to quickly go though it. This isn't all the Science force has been helpful in. The teams of specialist they brought with them have been working very hard, the situation's oddness is part of what is pushing them, they've never seen a situation like this.
From what they've gathered, all signs point to one thing. Multi stage, Anti-matter reactions. Anti-matter is strong enough, but when the energy released by an high level anti-matter reaction is used to cause other reactions. The heat must have almost totally annihilated the surrounding landscape for miles. When i, any of us, think about it; We all feel a little queasy. In theory, it would be more powerful than even a gamma ray burst from a black hole, jump space technology has to be used to alter the "laws" of physics to reach the appropriate conditions for such a reaction to take place. Where not only all matter is transformed to energy...but, time and space itself apparently is...removed from this universe; broken down to it's base fibers and released with ungodly amounts of power. It is a rather arcane idea that is commonly ridiculed in the scientific community. But such a weapon....would be as if it were the hand of god. Not fit for humanity to have, perhaps only god would be able to stop someone who had this weapon...or perhaps not. What could god do? humans could now apparently eradicate time and space....and time and space is the play-thing of god.
They think that the anomalies are defiantly man-made, this is only thing being powerful enough to do that to a land scape. Perhaps, if not merely a massively powerful conventional anti-matter explosive.
Vanshaw has not made any meetings with the force's other ranking officers, apparently he's been meeting with the the commander on board the Hudson. I over heard our section commander saying something about Vanshaw and the Captain of the Hudson knowing each other, but he didn't know why, how, or when. But right now, I could care less, it has rained and stormed all day yesterday, then the warm front moved out and it got colder than hell last night, because it has been fairly warm he haven't had any proper gear to keep warm. This weather sucks..this people must have been stupider than hell to start a city here. Didn't these people ever hear of topographical estimation, and doctrines of appropriated sea levels on planets in the process of terra forming. Dammit, it just pisses me off...

Well, it's official. Shalon system has been contacted by Vanshaw, and he is going to expect word back from them within a few days. We have informed them that we have acquired the bodies of several of their soldiers and wish to return them, but we of course have further ground to cover with them. Apparently according to the information that the new ships brought with them, Itena activity has been steadily increasing their activities in the Shalon system. It is currently believed that they are using Shalon for a staging zone, it's safe and it is easy to acquire the necessary materials to support a orbital battle group or invasion force. LFS high command has proof that after reports of high levels of Itena activity were reported, a neighboring IS was invaded and taken over, apparently, this has happened twice.
Although Shalon remaining friendly to the LFS and other IS's, it almost totally lacks any type of military force. Appeasement is it's only weapon, although i don't like to think about it, in reality they have also had to appease the LFS to prevent certain courses of action and behave on Shalon's terms. They're very picky about where military vessels place themselves in orbital altitude. Which is totally pointless, perhaps they forget how large an orbital altitude level is exactly.
Personally, from what i have studied, Shalon system is not worth it. Let the useless bastard’s be taken over by Itena, they'll see what happens when the LFS is no longer in favor with them. Even if the are favoring us they would go back on either Itena or LFS in a second if one gives a favorable offer to it. The LFS is to liberal...I doubt that this incident has been even well heard of. Either way, their's no hiding this.

Relief forces are scheduled to arrive, with more ships and finally some Trans-Atmospheric capable vessels, so that materials can be transferred, in massive quantities, and if need be RHV's can be deployed with ease one the planets. A larger contingent of Star fighters and light gun ships will also be part of the Stellar battle group. We received word of this today in the response to our choice to contact Shalon system directly.
As for the science vessels, one of the two modified OOVs is moving out, it is no longer needed, the Hudson is more effective than what was first assumed. I imagine that it will be the basis of design for any future research and or exploratory vessel. It's very well equipped, rivaling that of a stationary orbital facility. And it's AI system is probably the most user friendly I’ve ever had the plesure of meeting. It felt like a person, not like LMCAIS (LFS Military Central Artificial Intelligence System) that's part of our core system.

High command doesn't want Itena to go on a mad, spree though the Aquitaine system, embarassing the LFS by capturing this small force of our and then having to appease them to get us back. Me and most of the intelligence team has been moved on board the Hudson today. Although it's nice to get off the planet and in the Hudson, their's always a feeling that comes when you leave a planet, that something isn't right. But it wears off after a while.
They've been needing help deciphering the coded information on the Tags we found on the bodies of the Itena soldiers. They need most of us working on that. Currently it is believed that they are small computers, containing a program that, has contains information, simple right? Well, not exactly, the information they contain is protected by a self perpetuating program that changes the form in which it is coded every few hours...so it is impossible to decipher it; so far. We normally would be able to identify the program and make a mock up of it to see how it works and functions. We've been working towards that but..dammit it's hard, it's like a virus that mutates. Itena must have a program that is synchronized with these programs, to be able to decipher. Even the clever AI system onboard the Hudson seems unable to give a good synapses of this particular situation.
This is all in theory. It all could be, after all, just total garbage or possibly they were affected by the EM burst from the damaged RHV powerplants. We don't know. I'm sure that Itena would be happy to take these off our hands, if given the chance. No need to hide something that isn't important.
Otherwise, we've been making preparations for the coming Relief / occupation force, finding sites to set up terrestrial to orbit defenses and were we'd need to place our forces, for a variety of events that may or may not take place. However, passive the AI system on the Hudson is, it was derived from the standard LMCAIS, and retains the military knowledge and data processing characteristics. It has proved to be just as, if not more useful than LMCAIS.

The Reliefe Forces arrived yesterday and have since the smaller vessals carried by the Transtellar transport. We've been instructing the Ceres class TAOAVs (Trans atmosphereic orbital assault vessal) to take up positions around Fasat and Aquataina. The RHV crews are going to conduct some training, get a feel of the planets differential Gravity and terrain. Same with the Fighter craft, the task force has only brought ASF rated craft, in a long distance, unsupported excursion, functionality is key. Alot of planning is taking place, appropriatly enough. We want to be ready for anything, now that Itena has been contacted...seemingly. If we are going to be attacked, we wish to mount a defese that masks our real numbers, this is our primary goal. If Itena would be so kind to send only a small force, and if they are repelled by our force, it would buy us crucial time to affirm the need for heavy fortification of this system. Their was a briefing with Vanshaw and his peers. We stated that the system is secured so far the only risk we're running are the light defenses in the outer areas of the system. 5 of the 9 Tanzarian Class cruisers, fast enough to escape larger vessals, but fortified with strong shields and an array of defensive weapons to pose a serious liabality to anyone who'd decide to attack it. However, what good qualaties of speed, firepower and sensors it has do not make up for the lack of the abality to carry RHVs or aerospace fighers.
Nothing has been heard from Shalon system as of yet. Odd, considering the message sent should have arrived their instantly via jump space transmission; their are no systems that the message would have to travel through and the distance is not that far. Perhaps the comunication was lost, or wrongly communicated. I doubt there were any problems in that area, considering the communication equipment on the Hudson. I have no idea what is happening as far as communication with , i hate to say so, being a intelligence officer. We are awaiting the go ahead to communicate again. Itena forces have been known to completely ignore communications from the LFS.
