I'm an avid fan of The Prisoner, Patrick McGoohan's classic 60's series. As a proud owner (a wedding present!) of the entire video set with all episodes made, I enjoy them time and time again.

I must admit, I'm still slightly baffled at some of the elements in the very last episode! laugh.gif laugh.gif

What a shame more episodes weren't made. I wonder if this series would be a good candidate for a re-make and new episodes....?

What do you want?
Information
Whose side are you on?
That would be telling . . .
We want Information
You won't get it
By hook or by crook . . .
We will
Who are you?
The new Number Two
Who is Number One?
You are Number Six

I enjoyed The Prisoner too. I'd heard the Patrick Mcgoohan was a little cheesed off at having to end his series so he kind of went a little nuts with the plot? Anyone have a better theory?
Dax
them bones them bones them bones!

last one was a bit confusing, but every time I watch it it gets a little, but only a little clearer!!

That vaguely rings a bell?!! Sounds a good theory to me anyway! laugh.gif PM made the series though didn't he?

Probably not, bit like Twin Peaks?! laugh.gif
Eckie
From what I've read PM sounds like a bit of a character himself. He doesn't do much acting does he?, the only recent things I've seen him in is Escape from Alcatraz and Braveheart.

When I was a kid I'd beg to be allowed to stay up to watch Dangerman with PM as John Drake. And although I liked the prisoner it was a bit silly tongue.gif Same thing happened to the Avengers it started off quite seriously but then got daft tongue.gif

I think it was a little like 1984 referring to big brother and what "they" can do with a little bit of power

it would have been nice to find out what information he was holding at the end though!

did any one see the Simpsons episode taking the proverbail out of it?! laugh.gif

the ice cream with syringes sticking out like umbrellas, and Homer was still eating them!

Ahhhhh, like an 'Animal Farm' kind of power thing? biggrin.gif

The Simpsons take on The Prisoner was brilliant, the classic line for me was when they finally returned to the island at the end of the prog and Marge says something like....... its quite nice here, apart from the occasional gassings!
Love it !

Maybe the message is that we are all prisoners of our own selves, unless we break free from our conditioning?

Well, it's probably over a year since I last watched some Prisoner on video - I feel an episode coming on.

By hook or by crook I do........ wacko.gif tv_happy.gif
