Sci-Fi Spectrum > Fantasy Land > Fantasy
Dax
I finally got to sit down yesturday and watch the return of the king, I have had it on DVD for months and never had the time to watch it, as I wanted to watch it in one go (with loo and cup of tea breaks of course!!)
I had heard there were fake endings on it, and I was surprised at how many! laugh.gif I kept getting up going oh that was good, oh no its not finished yet! biggrin.gif and then sat down again!

I thought the whole trilogy was very good, worth the wait as well, the stars in it were great Orlando Bloom.....grrrr, looks tastey as a blonde! laugh.gif

was it me or did any one else thing the hobbits were portrayed as rather camp? Sam would do anything for Mr Frodo wouldnt he!! laugh.gif I was surprised when he said there was a lady hobbit he rather liked!

so I tucked my self into bed last night with a smile dreaming of hobbits and the shire....and Viggo Mortensen wub.gif aka Strider/the ranger/Aragorn wub.gif
vanner
Enjoyed them a lot, a very good trilogy !!

Although old Viggo did nowt for me, sorry !!

I like the films and I suppose in this modern age the innocense of the relationship between the hobbits may appear camp.
I'm waiting for the extended version of ROTK to come out in November. It'll have over an hour of extra scenes put into it. Yippe.
I saw the first two in the cinema and nicknamed them......
Lord of the Numb Rings for obvious reasons dry.gif smile.gif

yep you are spot on there, when they were written it was about true friendship (in fact that the whole ethos of the film really) about the lengths friends would go to for each other.
it is sad when you read stuff into stuff these days, its the way we have gone,
but....if that had been written in modern times they would of been more than friends! which is also nice smile.gif

theres no way I could of watch any of them in the flicks, I get fidget bum to easily! laugh.gif and streuth that last one was long!
Eckie
Not though choice I watched the last one on dvd and god it was long. I could walk around afterwards though without the aid of nurses.......... I got a comfy settee huh.gif
Igor
I'm waiting for the extended version as well.

Although the films were/are incredible, I hope they put Christopher Lee's scenes back in to the ROTK - he was very upset when they cut them out of the cinema release. Understandable too. huh.gif

Can't wait anyhow. smile.gif

I've read that they will put his stuff back into the extended cut. Christopher Lee, he's such a gentleman, a gentle giant and a fine actor. What do you think?

That's great news! biggrin.gif I think he's brilliant - a true gentleman. We're big Peter Cushing fans as well Eckie.

Peter Cushing was another great. I grew up watching the Hammer movies late at night featuring these great actors. Some people have said they were wasted on horror but I think they brought new standards to the genre in the 60s.
I've been attempting to collect the Hammer films on dvd but they are expensive as boxsets and are not in proper widescreen so they get stretched. Shame
