Yip, the current season (4) being made and shown in USA is to be the last. I think its a bit of a shame even though I thought it was a pile of poo for the first 2 seasons. Last years was pretty good and I've heard that the current episodes are good too. Ah well. Star Trek is put back in its box for a few years.

LOS ANGELES | After four years, the mission is over for ''Star Trek: Enterprise.''

The prequel to the original ''Star Trek'' science fiction series will air its final episode May 13, UPN and Paramount Network Television announced Wednesday.

The series will get a send-off that ''salutes its contributions to the network and satisfies its loyal viewers,'' said UPN Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff. She didn't disclose details.

''Star Trek: Enterprise'' debuted in September 2001. Scott Bakula stars as Capt. Jonathan Archer, along with John Billingsley, Jolene Blalock, Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery, Linda Park and Connor Trinneer.

The series has been sold into rerun syndication in most of the country and is set for debut this fall.

Its end means that, for the first time in 18 years, no first-run ''Star Trek'' series will be airing. The franchise included ''Star Trek'' (1966-69, NBC); ''Star Trek: The Next Generation'' (1987-94, syndicated); ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' (1992-99, syndicated); ''Star Trek: Voyager'' (1995-2001, UPN); and ''Star Trek: Enterprise.''

''Star Trek'' movies also have been released.

While bidding a warm goodbye to ''Star Trek: Enterprise,'' the studio hinted at more ''Star Trek'' to come.

''We all look forward to a new chapter of this enduring franchise in the future,'' said Paramount Network Television President David Stapf.

Boo, hisssssss!

As an avid ST Fan, this is a bit of a let down. I suspect it's not been drawing in enough cash for the makers!

I too, thought the first series in particular was weak - although the acting and characters were convincing, the plots were not sadly. smile.gif

From Series 2 onwards it really notched up a gear and the ongoing storyline which ran extensively through many episodes (a la Deep Space 9 style) was excellent I thought.

Ahhh well, first time a series hasn't gone for 7 years as reported, wonder what the next offerings for ST will be? I'd like to see a DS9 come back personally! Or a least the next movie which incorporates Sisko and Janeway! tv_happy.gif
Dax
how about a love triangle in deep space with Sisko, Janeway and 7 of 9?! biggrin.gif
or maybe thats a little too far fetched! laugh.gif

it would be good to have a new film out, but I would like to see a cross over, more so than the last film as that cross over with Janeway on the monitor was so tiny I dont think it really counted! biggrin.gif

at least there is scope for Data to be in the next film, even though it wont be Data. trek.gif

the lastest series of enterprise will be shown on sky one on Tuesday nights at 8pm from 8th March smile.gif

it includes an episode where he "swaps his starship for 1944 America invaded by the nazis"
sky mag says " no self respecting trekkie will want to miss"
Personally I prefer the title Trekker, than trekkie! laugh.gif

Yes, I think a new series with the cast of DS9 would be a good idea, that series didn't lose its credibility throughout its run.

Although yes, I do like a bit of star trek I can think of a few other things to do with so much dosh! laugh.gif

Perhaps they should invest that money in something original. I think the Star Trek franchise needs a rest now. Wait until there is huge demand for a new series. We've been spoiled since the 90s with it.
Dax
couldnt agree more, sometimes too much of a good thing.....and all that wink.gif

I have put a little bit of news on the main site about the last episodes smile.gif
