Well, thanks to the joys of ordering films via Tesco online, I've expanded my viewing to watching stuff I'd not touch with a bargepole and straightened out wire coat hanger in a hire shop.

The gem I sat down with last night was Gamerra 2 (Attack of Legion) Looks like it was a 90's remake. Absolutely brilliant. Imagine a 50's Godzilla with a (small) special effects ! Plucky Heroine (s). Square Jawed warrior types, inept cannon fodder, Boffins who save the day.... absolutely brilliant for the sheer quality of its dairy products. It even had an oriental Morbius clone... so that means there's at least 3 of him (be afraid, be very afraid).

I get to watch the rest tonight (I had to turn off when people came in because of the ridicule). But if you do go down the route of paying a flat fee for your hires, don't be shy. Try out some of the Japanese Monster Films out there. The sheer cheesyness will leave you spellbound.

and dont forget Badmovies channel on Sky, its 3 up from the Horror Channel and it starts at midnight every evening. There are some REALLY bad films on there...... but strangely watchable, even though you have to be up for work the next morning!

I'm finding it surprising with the Tesco DVD rental thing - there's thousands of movies to chose from and I have difficulty putting more than 30 on my 'wanted' list. blink.gif

I don't know if I've mentioned the film here before but if you haven't seen it yet I would recommend watching Plan 9 from Outer Space. It's available through Tesco rental (just checked) and is without a doubt one of the best 'bad movies' EVER made. It's SO bad that it's compulsive viewing.

They repeat the same scenes over and over in the film to lengthen it, often chopping and mixing day scenes with noght scenes together (e.g. a car driving at night, turns a corner in the day, drives along a road at night and then pulls up in a field during broad daylight), cardboard grave stones that get stuck on actor's clothes and Boris Karloff passed away halfway through the film so they have a stand in actor who is completely different in size, dressed in a cape and hat, holding the cape over his face, running out of the woods towards the camera, looks left then right, then runs off again (this scene is also repaeted several times to lengthen the moie as well).

This is brilliant bad movie stuff IMHO. A must see. wink.gif

Badmovies is on Sky channel 339. I've seen Plan 9 and it is almost as bad as Eastenders. Dot Cotten and Den rising from the dead is very believable now biggrin.gif

Keep getting screeners from Warners and my fav bad movie on those thus far is "Gladiatress". I simply cannot believe they made that rubbish smile.gif

Speaking of cheese I see the Horror Channel have lined up the seminal classic Vamires V Zombies as their December crowd puller biggrin.gif

Although, having said Tesco's have sent me Phantasm through for tonight. thumbup1.gif

Phantasm is quite an original film. It may not be great but at least its not full of teens being 'slashed' biggrin.gif

Okay, my daughter bought Land of The Dead over the holiday. Oh deary deary me. She did warn me. 'You can watch it' she said 'but your gonna have a Helms Deep episode, we'll probably have to restrain you....'

She was right. Oh Boy was she right.......

If you've not caught it, please please please don't .....I still can't believe I sat through such a piece of crap. Its plot was even lamer than the Addams Family Reunion.

Shudder....

musical as in singing and dancing and stuff ?! laugh.gif no way!!! laugh.gif

that has got to be one to watch!

I watched Land of the Dead last night. It was ok, there were some good ideas but the directing was a little flat in places. Anyone notice the director and star of Shaun of the Dead as zombies in the movie?
