Is this the one where we are treating the giant organism that is earth as parasites i.e. pollution those greenhouse gasses, its trying to sort itself out on that huge grand scale by shifting the winds and the ground till it gets rid of its fleas.
I think so.

I agree to an extent on whats been said above but don't forget- ice ages were totally natural in creation and they wiped out everything in their path. Same with large meteorite strikes.

We've been lucky enough to live in an incredibly stable period of the planets history. Now it's coming to an end. OR as has been mentioned it could be that the worldmind has finally decided it's had enough of us ..

Whichever the case, all you can really do is trust your government and elected representatives to guide us through these coming times of turbulence................................................BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Did anyone actually believe that last sentence ? (ROFLMOA)

This got us thinking in work. So far we've had.
Tsunami
Earthquakes
Locusts
Hurricanes
Tornadoes
Wild Fires
We're bracing ourselves for plague.
I think there's only Volcano left... * Yellowstone anyone ?

* There are a couple of posts I've read on a Survival Forum saying that it's not just the old men of the tribes who are talking about the cleansing. It's effecting the younger people as well.....

I know a Jehovahs witness who is rubbing their hands together at the mo, because the sinners (according to them) are being punished!
the end is nigh etc etc
I dont agree one bit and think that it is the most discriminative religion on the planet!

Ah, I'm not getting into any discussion on comparative religions, especially on a SF Forum (The ElRons will get me).
Still, if you want to chat survival steps, give me a shout.

Flooding is another major hazard. I have a river out my back, it gets pretty high and fast in the heavy rains but has never been known to flood...... yet

Do you have a flood bund dug yet ? Then again how far below you is the river bed ?

Off the top of my head, the riverbed is about 10 feet below the house. we are near the source in a valley. What is a flood bund?
Ogre
Oct 19 2005, 03:22 PM
10 ft ? Ouch. Because water seeks it's lowest level, the idea is to surround your house with a waterproof wall that's lower than the water level. They have it up by us with some houses alongside the canal. But 10ft is a bit of a bitch. Defiantly a specialist firm job. Ah well, I look forward to your announcement about your upcoming boat purchase

I caught the tail end of something on Discovery last night, explaining that last boxing days quake was actually caused by a ripple effect from an earlier quake last year. It makes me wonder what the knock on effects of the Asian quake will be. I dunno. I think WTSHTF its going to catch most of us like a bunch of kids with spray cans in our hands and a newly graffitied wall (Who Us? Not me destryoing the ecosphere guv - What ? Not fair.....) On the hop and guilty as sin.
And I've the nagging feeling it's going to be before the end of the decade. Now, can anyone lend me about £4K ? I need to stock in a years food for me, She Who Must Be Obeyed. The Hulking Surlybrute and 2 Mutts. Soon.

Global warning.
It's getting somewhat frightening down here. You can actually get sunburnt down in Melbourne on a cloudy day, and if that's not bad enough apparently the drought we are currently expierancing is set to be prolonged

The Government of course are all over this, and have shown their environmental creditials by not signing the Kyoto accords or doing anything about the salination of the river systems. We're basically rooted down here anyways.

I beleive it has some thing to do with the underground neucular testing done the world over as related to earthquakes which might trigger volcanic activity

Because of my current situation I've been seeing a LOT of the Discovery Channell of late. I was quite suprised to see the Japanese undersea ruins documentary yesterday. Using pots and archetecture when we were all still officially Hunter Gatherers. Puts civilisation (prior to current) about 4,000 years older than previously thought.
Funky....

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WITH ALL THE POLLUTENS BEING PUMPED IN THE ATMOPHERE THAT MAN MAY HAVE DAMAGFD THE O-ZONE WITH THE INCREASE IN WARMER WINTERS IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE HAVE ALTERED THE EARTHS CLIMATE WHAT ARE YOUR THROUGHTS
