The Doctor
So, if you were stuck on a desert island and could only take one classic sci-fi film with you on DVD and a DVD player (with TV of coruse!), what would you take?! biggrin.gif

I think for me it would be War of The Worlds! robot.gif
Eckie
I think it would have to be John Carpenter's 1982 version of The Thing. Very chilling wink.gif
shadow
Am I allowed Terminator, the first one of course. Superb film, if you think about it too long you mind goes into a spin..... wacko.gif
Eckie
I find it very difficult to name just one, I could do with ten! But those are the rules wacko.gif
The Doctor
Shadow - Terminator - excellent! biggrin.gif That's a classic now, it was made in 1984 too.

Eckie - that's why it's hard, just one! laugh.gif
Dax
lost boys,

without a doubt!

I know its kinda horror, in a mild sense of the word horror, does it count as sci-fi? and do I have to choose again? laugh.gif

I still have a soft spot for ET smile.gif Not only did I enjoy it but it brings back memories from when my kids were younger smile.gif

Lost boys yet another good one, good sound track too.

There's a advert on the telly I can't remember what its selling but its the same music that is played when the kids in the bath right before the dog saves him from his brother. When this ad comes on I can only think lost boys, they really need to change the music as they won't sell anything laugh.gif

It would be a 'toss-up' between 'War of the Worlds' or 'Aliens'

How about The Blob Vanner, superb film?

Can anyone remember the film where they eat brains, was it the living dead, because that was another good one. I thought it was hillarious when I saw it as a youngster.
vanner
Yeah, 'The Blob', 'The Thing', The Day the Earth Stood Still, all of them really.

'George Romeo' made a shed full of Zombie films, depends how long ago it was
when you where a youngster !! tongue.gif

'Return of the Living Dead' was one of the funniest though !!
shadow

Have any of you seen the Origional Russian "Solaris"?

and how come no one has said "2001, a space oddyessy?"

Either way, that is my favorite "Sci Fi" movie. 2001. Absolutly stunning for being made in 1968. Stanly Kubrik really was an amazing director.
Eckie
I saw the original Solaris many years ago on tv. My memories of it are that it was very long and not a lot seemed to happen........ and that it was in russian! 2001 is an amazing film for its time.
nisse
My impression on seeing the original Solaris was that the director must have been on Valium!
