So, if you were stuck on a desert island and could only take one classic sci-fi film with you on DVD and a DVD player (with TV of coruse!), what would you take?!
I think for me it would be War of The Worlds!

I think it would have to be John Carpenter's 1982 version of The Thing. Very chilling

Shadow - Terminator - excellent! That's a classic now, it was made in 1984 too.
Eckie - that's why it's hard, just one!

lost boys,
without a doubt!
I know its kinda horror, in a mild sense of the word horror, does it count as sci-fi? and do I have to choose again?

Lost boys yet another good one, good sound track too.
There's a advert on the telly I can't remember what its selling but its the same music that is played when the kids in the bath right before the dog saves him from his brother. When this ad comes on I can only think lost boys, they really need to change the music as they won't sell anything

I don't know how many times I've seen Lost Boys. My kids LOVED it and watched it over and over. They knew the dialogue backwards! Must admit I did enjoy it....the first three times

Can anyone remember the film where they eat brains, was it the living dead, because that was another good one. I thought it was hillarious when I saw it as a youngster.

Have any of you seen the Origional Russian "Solaris"?
and how come no one has said "2001, a space oddyessy?"
Either way, that is my favorite "Sci Fi" movie. 2001. Absolutly stunning for being made in 1968. Stanly Kubrik really was an amazing director.

I saw the original Solaris many years ago on tv. My memories of it are that it was very long and not a lot seemed to happen........ and that it was in russian! 2001 is an amazing film for its time.

My impression on seeing the original Solaris was that the director must have been on Valium!
