Ok, not strictly SF but I think we can cover it.

I've been dreading the release of this 'Yet Another Computer Game to Film' effort. I thought REII didn't do the series any favours and have so far managed to avoid Doom..... But.

All the fan reviews I've read of this are commenting on what an excellent effort everyone has put in. It may be a bit long (2 hrs) and can become confusing for anyone who's not aware of the games, but seems to be this years conversion release to watch.

CGI is minimal (lots of the creatures are humans in makeup). Gore and violence is sudden, disturbing and when it happens, plentiful.

One reviewer said he was delighted at the screams of the film critic in the row behind. I've played Silent Hill I and found it to be quite disturbing. I admit I can't blame the critic tongue.gif

If you go and see this un let me know what you think.

I've played SH 3, very good game. The director of the film also made Brotherhood of the Wolf. It looks good from the trailer anyhow! ghostface.gif

Looking forward to this!

I am a big fan of Silent Hill (except the incredibly naff last one - The Room) so hope they really do the games justice. Can't wait!

It made me think too......... smile.gif

Saw it last weekend. Damn I enjoyed it.

One of the few films we've seen that my daughter refused to watch on her own as it was too disturbing. Liked the logic behind the happenings as well.

If you've not seen it yet, it's defenately one to watch in the dark.

I won't play Silent Hill alone! LOL I thought the movie was great! Really did the "feel" of the game justice. Not necessarily about the gore but about the story and being disturbing. Loved it.
Ogre
We watched it again last night. I've decided that (certainly in myself) it doesn't evoke feelings of fear but utter rage.

Then again I'm an old softy.

Ogre, did this rage manifest itself in a physical sense? If so; what damage did you create?
Ogre
Nah. I rarely allow myself the pleasure of letting loose physically. I've found that things do get broken sad.gif
