I'm looking for a book I'm positive was written by William Shatner. Possibly the first in a series. Trouble is I can't seem to find it on his biblography. Can anyone help supply me the title etc from the snippets of the tale I do remember.

Good Aliens are canine in aspect. One is an ambassador hunted by assassins or something but is befriended/protected by a young male human.

Aliens are scared of something in the human psyche (s) and will instantly kill anyone showing a particular trait.

However due to test failures they miss this quality in one particular human (possibly the kid referred to earlier)

Anyone ?

And it's only 3 quid.
