what do you think?

SHC theories

if you are not sure here is a site that has a few ideas, hopefully in the next few days I will post another site with different ideas!

I have my own ideas thanks to the discovery channel!! laugh.gif

I certainly believe SHC is possible, I think there are too many accounts to dismiss it and the circumstances are unique but I have no explanation, very interesting though.

I'm not even going to look at that site, Dax ohmy.gif

The very thought of it terrifies me!! When I first read about it I would get quite agitated if I felt the least bit warm ohmy.gif I don't even want to think about it!

I dont see it as a mystry any more I have to say!

a promise I will post the other link in a few more days!.....keeping you waiting! tongue.gif
Eckie
I think it happens and would like a scientific explanation of how it works, mainly so that I can avoid that fate myself unsure.gif
The Master
It certainly exists, but whether it occurs quickly is debateable. They have done experiments that show a 'wicking' effect when the fat under skin melts and gets drawn up into the clothes and burns (same way a candle wick works) but it is a slow process.

Yuck, better watch out for those hot flushes then!

The Master
They did the experiments on dead pigs ... mmmmmmm BBQ's

(lol .. I love the Homer quote:

Homer: Lisa, honey. Are you saying your never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No!
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No!
Homer: Porkchops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: Heh heh yeah right Lisa, a wonderful magical animal heh heh

lmao)

Ahh Master....you beat me to it!

tha wick effect, I used to be very scared about blowing up into a ball of flames then I watched a programme about wick effects
link here

basically, you need an excellarant....channel perfume in one case, then ignition...hot fire, too close, ciggie dropping on you.....also something to knock you out....a fall, an attack etc (or being old and dead in some cases!)

the fire smoulders for a bit then goes whoosh, then slowly the fat from your body melts

imagine an inside out candle, the wax is in the middle and the candle is wrapped in cloth.....you set fire to the "wick" the cloth and then wait, the cloth will burn a bit then as the wax melts into the cloth it keeps the fire going longer,

if you look at old fashioned oil lamps, the wicks that stands out st the top burns quite quickley untill the flame reaches the point where the wick is saturated in oil, a small piece of wick can burn for hours if dipped in oil, if it was just the wick with no oil it would burn immediatly

hope this has put some fears out of your head now!!
Dana_Scully
That's it!! I'm definitely going on a diet! ohmy.gif

I've heard of being flamed here but this is crazy tongue.gif tongue.gif

I agree with Dax, human combustion is a frightening thought, but an accelerant is needed. No one just goes up in flames.
JIMMY
Methane gas created naturally in the body, maybe an abnormal build up of internal gases and whoosh! ohmy.gif
Just a thought huh.gif
Dr What
Could be right, Jimmy.

I wonder if static electricity has something to do with it? I watched a video of a woman getting petrol for her motor. She brushed her sleeve on the nozzle and there was a flash and the hose went up all in flames and you could see sparks of fire inside the petrol tank.
Eckie
Static causes all sorts of problems with flammable substances. It might be the spark as it were but the way the body burns after is odd. Some people have survived it.
