I have the entire set of ST: VOY, most of DS9, some TNG and one or two of TOS.
From them all, my favourites change, but I have to say that I enjoy DS9, Voyager and TNG the most

What's yours?
They are:
The Original Series (TOS)
The Animated Series (TAS)
Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG)
Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (DS9)
Star Trek: Voyager (ST: Voy)
Enterprise
What's the Animated Series all about then eh?! I have a few on computer, they are........interesting!

Well I would say that TOS would be my favourite because I grew up watching it. I think it was first on tv in UK in about 1969. Everybody annoyingly refered to Mr Spock as Dr Spock. As for the later series I think I would have to go for DS9, good characters and intersting story lines. Tha animated adventures were strange and slightly disappointing I found.

Absolutely agreed there, for sure

DS9 I feel often pipped Voyager to the post with the story lines and plots, particularly into season 7 and the ongoing twists, character turns (thinking particularly of Gul Du Kat) and story lines.

I liked the DS9 ep set in the 30s where all the characters in make up played human roles. It was quite good to see them in the 'flesh' I liked the tailor character (I'm terrible with names tonight!), the actor who played him was in Clive Barker's Hellraiser movie.

Oh yes! Great ep!
It was fun to play spot which character is it out of make up?! Quark (Armin Shimerman) was quite obvious though because of his size.

Garak was the tailor in DS9.

Yes Garak, that was it. It was also good to see Armin S in Buffy(another good topic!) playing the head of school, he is a great actor. The chap who played Q crops up a lot on TV these days, have you noticed?

I bought them as I went along from 1995 onwards or whenever it was the series started - first in the queue at WHSMITH to buy!

When WHSMITH got a little poor getting enough in, I bought the remaining ones from Amazon.
I have two dedicated IKEA video cabinets for all ST: Voyager now

yes he played the principle and got eaten by the big monster that came out of the hell mouth....but thats a different topic!!
I do like Q, the main Q especailly, although all the Qs were interesting.
they were all called Q and their speicies were Q....do you think that might of got confusing for the mail man!!

I don't really have a favourite. I wouldn't go out at all on nights when TOS was on but it's looking a bit dated now

I've not seen the animated series but I don't think I want to

Did you ever see that episode in TOS where Spock (I named my dog after him) and Kirk were in a prison cell, handcuffed, and trying to escape. As Spock was trying to release Kirk it was hilarious because Kirk's handcuffs were OPEN!
Also have you noticed in Voyager how Mr.Kim seems to get into a lot more trouble than any other member of the crew? If something bad is going to happen it usually happens to Kim

Dana - the animated series isn't really looking so good I feel, it's an 'acquired' taste perhaps?!
LOL@Kim! Yep, you're right, also why is it he never got one promotion over 7 years on Voyager, yet he clearly deserved it? No room for promotion maybe, but he could have been the next rank up at least, far more realistic.

Some of mine are ex-rental, others bought at a pittance when a big warehouse decided to off-load all of their videos and they flooded the market with loads of Voyager videos, STNG and Babylon 5.

Nice one! There were loads of ST VOY and DS9 ones a year or so back at a shop a few miles away from us, called 'Bargain Madness' - unfortunately I had the entire VOY collection already and the ones I didn't have of DS9 weren't up for sale as they had about 200 copies of the same episode!
HMV were doing a great offer a while ago though, buy one get one on ST.

My first post is a question
One of my fave episodes of Star Trek was the one with the breeding furry things that fell out of hatches and squeaked. It was so funny, but almost believible, but can't remember what they were called.

tribbles!!!
Eckie
Oct 15 2003, 10:57 PM
Yes a classic episode, the creatures were Tribbles and the episode was 'The Trouble with Tribbles' and Klingons hated them.
The episode was re-visited in DS9 where they put the modern actors into the same scenes as the old crew.
Dax
Oct 15 2003, 11:00 PM
and the DS9 episode was called trials and tribbulations!
very clever the way the old film was mingled in with the new film, you couldnt see the gaps
I watched it the other night on video actually and Kirks shadow was actaually casted across chief O'Brien, very nicely done

Tribbles, thank you Eckie
Very strange episode but always wanted a tribble, I was young at the time

The trouble with Tribbles is the only title of a Star Trek episode that I remember. My daughter had a lovely little fluffy hamster that she named Tribble and it looked just like them

I thought the the old and new episode was brilliantly done

And what did happen to the Klingons?
First the have head ridges (Enterprise)
Then they don't (ToS)
Then they do (DS9)
All Worf would say is "I don't want to talk about it"

Sadly Tribble died as pure as the day he was born

He's buried in the garden with a big green frog as his headstone

Yes, classic line!

More like the script-writers can't explain it?!!

But, they do imply that it was some kind of 'embarassing' time period in the Klingon race when something 'genetically' went wrong?
Eckie
Oct 18 2003, 10:49 PM
I thought that too Doctor, maybe there was a phase when they wanted to look more human
Or perhaps they were big fans of a certain earthling popstar and tried to emulate him, would like to see a Klingon walk on the moon or is that moonwalking?
I was just glancing over this thread again and realised I never said what my fav ST was!!
well I have had time to think about it now and have to say out of all them its got to be............
Next Generation!!
bald headed men do something for me!!

I must say there have been some very nice looking men in all the STs (and of course some pretty ladies!!)
and Worf is a dish....I have to say that, I married him!
I mean look at those ridges! and the longer hair really suited him!

Strangely enough Robert Beltran was very outspoken about his dislike of Voyager, even when he was still in it! He was a good character though, I also like 7 of 9, ahem for various reasons.

I'm torn between ST: Voyager and ST: DS9 at the best of times, of course it depends on my mood too.

Favourite characters in Voyager have to be The Doctor - naturally,

and the lovely, but feisty B'Elanna Torres as well as that evil chap from 'Invaders from the 9th Dimension'

What was his name again?

I'd have to say the following ( going from best to worst )
1. DS9
2. TNG / TOS / ENTERPRISE
3. VOYAGER / ANIMATED

I love Voyager and think it had the best 'Final Episode' but I think the depth of the story lines and character development in DS9 makes it the hands down winner for me.
After that I think it would be TNG, TOS and the Animated Series. I don't know where to put Enterprise as I'm still making my mind up about it - it does look hopeful though!
